Lake Victoria, Bunda village and Speke Bay (excursion ex Serengeti)
This is an all day excursion from Kiarawira Luxury Tented Camp (see Serena Hotels) in western Serengeti that Destination Kenya is pleased to recommend to any traveller spending at least 3 nights at Kirawira. After breakfast at Kirawira, drive westerly through the Serengeti to the Tanzanian village of Bunda. This drive takes about 2 hours with the first hour being a game drive. Time will be spent visiting the market stalls of this authentic African village which sees very few tourists. The visitor gets the opportunity to see how the market plays a focal role in rural African life and there is also a school operated by AMREF that you would be welcome to visit. After this visit to Bunda village, a drive south along the shores of Lake Victoria ( thirty minutes ) to a small oasis of a lodge Speke Bay where a freshly cooked lunch will be served. The lodge also has immaculate washrooms so it is also a place to freshen up.

After lunch, a slow leisurely drive eastwards back to the Serengeti and Kirawira Camp. One is back in the Serengeti game viewing area around 3.30 pm when one can either do an afternoon game drive or continue back to the camp to have the remainder of the afternoon at leisure. This excursion will afford you the opportunity of not only seeing the largest lake in Africa and second largest lake in the world- Lake Victoria but it will also give you the chance to see and experience rural Africa.
Depart Kirawira around 8.30 am - return around 4 pm
