John Glen is a third-generation Kenyan who owns and personally manages Destination Kenya. John has built a brilliant career in East African tourism, with a hands-on approach, a dedicated and fierce attention to detail, and a creative flair for the unusual, which has made him something of a legend in the travel business. Frequent overseas trips keep John abreast of new industry developments and market trends. His intimate knowledge of East Africa and its unique locations enable him to deliver the epic, different and untamed in a way few are able to match.

In keeping with John’s maverick spirit and his love of the African landscape, he once was inspired to hitchhike from Cape Town to Nairobi, alone. A journey that took him three months and brought him into contact with nature and cultures that few rarely witness.

John has spent most of his life travelling through East Africa,and has also travelled extensively around Central and Southern Africa. These journeys continually build upon his experiences, his encyclopaedic knowledge of diverse attractions, exceptional accommodations, culture and wildlife.

John is married to the well known Kenya landscape artist Bettina Roedling, who’s works are well known to collectors from all corners of the world. When on safari with Destination Kenya, a visit to her studio can easily be arranged.
